





This dissertation examines the positive and negative short term and evolultionary impacts of Carrieres Centrales and Hay Hassani on the indigneous communities in Morocco. Why was Carrieres Centrales and Hay Hassani radically transformed? What do the transformations say about the inhabitants' perception of their conflicted identity?This study analyses the different barriers inhibiting the scheme's evolution during the French protectorate era. Therefore, speculating that 'architecture is not permanent or timeless; dwellings change with their inhabitants" to fit their economic, social and cultural requirements.
